- Mark Twain presented by Charles Harrington Elster on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. “My Mark Twain” is a loving look at Twain’s life, enduring humor, and extraordinary gift for language. Mr. Elster made this irreverent icon of American letters the main character in his vocabulary-building novel for high school students, “Test of Time”. Charles Harrington Elster is a nationally recognized authority on language.
- Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner presented by Martin Krumming, Attorney at Law, on Wednesday, February 15, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Rupert Murdoch and his global media empire are leaving a major footprint on society. This presentation will explore how influential this media mogul and his friends really are and what the future holds for tabloid journalism. Please join us for a lively exchange. Martin Krumming is a San Diego attorney who is playing second base and waiting for Baku.
- Home Décor & The Use of Symbolism in Feng Shui is presented by Kathryn Holt on Wednesday, March 21, 1:30- to 3:00 p.m. Symbolism is a fascinating component of Feng Shui. Traditionally speaking, it is believed that the subtle patterns and symbolism that surrounds you at home can contribute (favorably or unfavorably) to the events that transpire for your life. During this lecture you will discover how Feng Shui Masters read and interpret the symbolism within a home, and how you can apply this knowledge to your own living space. We’ll also discuss how you can use symbolic imagery most advantageously.

- Booksale, by Benjamin Friends of the Library, will be held on Saturday January 28th, 9:30 to 12:00. Please come to support your local branch and find some great deals.
- “Patios, Pathways & Plants For Fixing Your Landscape”, a free lecture will be presented by Doug Kalal on Saturday, February 4, 11:00 to 12:00. This presentation will give you great solutions for creating a dazzling outdoor environment at your home and will cover a wide variety of topics such as the different types of materials to use for patios, plants for hummingbirds, what to do if you have shade areas or slopes, what drought tolerant plants are best for you. There will be dozens of plants and material examples to see.
- Local author, Margaret Dilloway will talk about her new book: Care and Handling of Roses With Thorns on Tuesday, February 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This is a free event.
- Special Springtime Craft – Tuesday, March 6, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Children under the age of 8 need an adult with them. Please sign up at the Library’s Circulation Desk.
Regularly scheduled classes:
- Knitting circle is held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All levels, ages 14 and up, are welcome. Beginners, please bring knitting needles in size 7, 8 or 9, and worsted weight yarn. Others please bring any project you are currently working on or wish to start.
- Adult Hatha Yoga is on Wednesdays, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please bring a yoga mat and towel. Please arrive early, the class fills up quickly.
- Zumba is on Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. Please wear comfortable workout clothes and cross training or “aerobic” type shoes (with low treading). Bring a water bottle, gym towel and your smile. Please arrive early as the class fills up quickly. Zumba is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning fitness party that’s moving millions of people toward joy and health. If you have any physical or health issues, please consult your physician before trying Zumba Fitness or any other exercise; waiver must be signed before class.
- Healthy Back Yoga is held on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. This will be a gentle paced class combining breath work and postures to relax, heal and stretch the back. The class will end with a restorative posture and guided meditation. Please bring a mat or large towel and a hand towel to class.
- Navajo Adult School Mystery Class is on Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Register through Navajo Adult.
- Benjamin Branch Book Club meets from 1:00 to 2:00 on the second Tuesday of the month.
Childrens’ classes:
- Preschool Story Time is on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
- Yoga For Kids is held on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for kids ages 2-8.
- Crafts for Kids are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Children under the age of 5 require adult supervision.
